About The Edge

Since 1997, The Edge has been the independent voice of the students of Gleneagle Secondary.

The Edge is a member of the Quill and Scroll Society and has been recognized with International First Place Awards (1999, 2003, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017) and George H. Gallup Awards (2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2018).

The Edge conforms and adheres to the standards and style of the Canadian Press and is produced by the New Media classes.

Additional articles, opinion pieces, and features, and letters to the editor will be printed as space allows. Letters to the editor must be signed, clearly indicate grade or school position, and be free of libel. Alternately, letters may be submitted electronically from any SD43 account to
theEdge@SD43.bc.ca.

The Edge reserves the right to edit any submitted material for accuracy, spelling, and grammar, brevity and style.

Fair Use & Dealing

The Edge makes use of various copyrighted online visual resources for the purposes of criticism, commentary, athletic, and news reporting. In accordance with the United States doctrine of “Fair Use,” as outlined in Section 107 (Title 17, U.S. Code). The Edge also follows the Canadian “Fair Dealing” as outlined under the Copyright Act of Canada, Section 29. These images are for non-profit educational purposes and not intended to affect the potential market for, or value of, the copyrighted work. Scott Findley

Scott Findley has been teaching New Media, formally known as Journalism, since 1995, and has worked as "The Edge" advisor since 2013 and has been teaching at Gleneagle Secondary since 1998. Findley is a big consumer of popular culture enjoying all things Marvel, the Walking Dead, but most of all anything to do with Star Wars. He is a father of two adult children. He is married to his second wife and they have recently downsized and done a full renovation of their new condominium. In his spare time, Findley likes to binge watch anything on any of the streaming services that he has, but lately has been watching a lot of new British comedies, also known as 'Britcoms'.
