Nyxia is a book in the science-fiction, adventure and dystopian world genre. It has a very interesting premise. The setting of the book is in a spaceship on its way to a far away planet. The main plot of the story is similar to The Hunger Games.
10 people are selected to join in a deadly competition of a lifetime. The competition takes place on a spaceship to Eden, an Earth like planet where “Nyxia” can be found, which is a rare, sought-after substance with unknown power.
However, only 8 of the 10 people get the ultimate prize, the chance to mine “Nyxia” on Eden, and an unimaginable amount of money for the rest of their lives. To qualify for the chance, the 10 contestants have to go through a series of competitions, such as running on a 4D realistic treadmill that morphs into different environments and conditions, and combat with each other.
The story keeps you on your feet with all the action throughout. I found the book to be quite engaging, because I kept wanting to flip the page to read more. There is also a huge plot twist that was very unexpected. I wish the ending wasn’t a cliffhanger though, because it leaves the reader wondering. However, don’t fret, there are two more book sequels to Nyxia if you would like to continue reading.
Overall, I would rate this book a 3.5/5 because of the thrilling story line and creativity. I would recommend Nyxia to teens that enjoy reading about science fiction technology, and dystopian worlds like Star Wars, Ender’s Game and The Hunger Games.
