After a month of preparation, training, and practices, the junior girls basketball team finally got to play their first game on Monday, December 12 against Charles Best, but unfortunately, they lost.
Jenifer Zhou, grade 9 team member who explained her first impressions on the team in the last edition of The Edge, played in the game as well. Zhou, who hadn’t played in a basketball team since grade 5, said that she was “happy with the team’s work”. On the other hand, she was also a little disappointed with the result, since it is always hard to get through a loss like that, but most importantly, Zhou believes that because it was the team’s first game, it was still good. She thinks that the team should work to improve their communication before facing other teams, but without forgetting to work as hard as they have done so far. Zhou explained that the team’s coach told them to not worry about the result, and just focus on ways to improve and enjoy the experience of playing for the school.
On Wednesday, the team will face Riverside Secondary School for their second game of the season, and after all the work that we have seen them put in every single minute of practice during these weeks, everyone expects to see great results and a first victory for the team.
Lastly, everyone is more than welcome to come cheer the girls today, Thursday 15, and tomorrow, Friday 16, at the annual Candy Cane Classic tournament.
