It may have started as a joke, but the cheese club had its first official meeting on December 7 at the start of lunch and in room 113. According to Fionn Kearney, grade 11 and cheese club founder, said that “things are going really well, we had our first event yesterday and we had so much cheese and different kinds of food, and it was amazing.”

Kearney noted that the creation of the club actually “started off as a joke”, she explains that she started it because there was no reason not to, so she started it.

“The purpose of the cheese club is to eat cheese, meet some other cheese lovers, socialize and talk about cheese and appreciate it,” added Kearney.

Kearney also mentioned that not everything is entirely based on cheese itself but also to “make friends and connections and build some cultural awareness from different cheeses from around the world.”

Activities happening in the cheese club include making friends and building new bonds not only by a cheese connection but also have a cultural learning and experience on the history of topics they discuss.

“I’m enjoying talking to everyone in the club and meeting new people, making new friends and connections, and enjoying the cheese,” said Hamraz Ghorbannzhad, grade 12 and cheese club member,

Ghorbannzhad, mentions that she is looking forward for the various events that the cheese club will have to offer.

The cheese club’s next meeting will be after the winter break, and the members are looking forward to it, as their last meeting went well.
