After 32 years of coaching the senior girls on their last year of highschool, Patty Anderson won’t be coaching the team this year. Instead, “We have two outside coaches, very knowledgeable” said Anderson. Seniors and Juniors have Coach Clay as their basketball coach, and for strength and conditioning, coach Antony but just for practices which brings up a big concern. Since the senior team doesn’t have a coach for games. “I just hope to play some games,” said Natasha Miller, team member.

At the tryouts on November 5, which took place in the main gym afterschool, more than twenty girls attended. “It was great that there were quite a few girls (since) some feel that they need to have already played before coming in, which is unfortunate… as we teach them. And for some, they learn to love it, even when they have never played,” said Anderson. The girls demonstrated their skills to qualify for the team and play against other schools in the Fraser valley district, but unlike junior team, the senior team still doesn’t know when or if they will also be playing on December 12. “We still don’t know when or if we are going to have our first game,” said Miller.

For now, the team is focusing on “a bunch of fundamentals like dribbling and shooting to be ready when needed.
