The junior boys basketball team has been started up again this school year. The team’s coach is Jun Labrador, who is also a critical care nurse at Royal Columbian Hospital. He has been a nurse for over 20 years.
Not only is Coach Jun a nurse and a basketball coach, he is also the founder of Live2Give and Live2Give Academy.
Live2Give is a yearly medical mission overseas to help one kid, one family, and one community at a time.
Live2Give Academy is a basketball club that focuses on the development and growth of individual players.

Coach Jun’s son used to go to Gleneagle Secondary School, and he has coached a few Gleneagle students on his own basketball team, so that was a huge motivation to help coach our basketball team this year.
Coach Jun stated “the junior boys team has been doing well and getting better with every practice.”
The basketball team practices are every Monday – Friday after school. There are currently 13 students in the junior boys basketball team roster.
The junior boys basketball team is planning to participate in a few exhibition games and three different tournaments during the year as well. The first league game for the team was on December 12 against Charles Best Secondary School.
The overall goal of the team is focusing on players’ growth not only as players, but also to become leaders and good team members. Not only learning basketball skills, but also important and essential life skills!
So far in the league games, the junior boys basketball team has won one game and lost one game, with a 50% win rate.
“As an entire team, we think that we have a lot of potential”, said Kai Yan, Grade 10
