This month Gleneagle will held four Drama showcases performed by the drama class of grade 9/10 and 11/12. According to Mr. T. Maller, Drama teacher, the showcases are “Check Please” a series of bad blind dates, “The Costumer is Always wrong” 4 individuals go through the challenges of bad costumers at their first-time jobs, “One Stoplight Town” and “Almost Maine” a story of individuals finding connections in unusual circumstances.

The showcases were originally scheduled for this week and are currently being postponed to a later date.  Most of the students from Mr. Maller’s class are excited to take part of this project

“I think that the story “One stoplight town” is something that everyone can relate to,” said Carolin Raum Davina, grade 11, “that’s why we understand what the characters are feeling and we can understand the message better. At first it seems like it doesn’t have any deep meaning but if you really think about it there’s quite a big topic behind everything.”

“One stoplight town” is a story that revolves mainly around change and there’s a really strong meaning behind the script.

I really enjoy the story and feel connected to the character. I like how the stoplight is a metaphor for change and most of it has a much deeper meaning.” said James Pearson, grade 11

And also, Carolin Raum Davina, says “The main idea of the story can be interpreted differently. I personally see it as a story about slowing down sometimes and not taking things too fast. We are living in the moment and sometimes we should not worry too much about what the future will bring and what might come because we don’t know if it’s going to happen.  That’s what the yellow light represents. But also, we shouldn’t think about the past too much, because we might get stuck in the past and not be able to move forward to the future. I think you should watch it because it is very funny but also very deep at the same time. All the actors are doing an amazing job and we are working together as a team.”

For certain, teamwork is a really important skill when you get to work together such as in Mr. Maller and a lot of hard work is required in order to set up a nice showcase

“I think that the main idea is to show how hard we’ve been working on our acting skills, it’s really a presentation of what we’ve learned in the class. I think it’s also just because it’s fun and hopefully is a fun experience for the school and audience.” said Carolyn Berryman, grade 1?, “I’m glad it’s being written, we’ve put a lot of hard work into this performance, it’s nice to have our effort recognized. additionally, hopefully this will generate more interest in the drama program.”

We all send our support to the drama class and to all the performers who are working hard for this showcase to happen!
