Natalie Mitchell / Staff reporter

Natalie Mitchell is a grade 11 student who studies at Gleneagle secondary school. She is very artistic and loves to pursue many hobbies in that area. Mitchell loves to paint abstractly because as she grew up, her grandmother taught her the skill and she grew up loving that art style. Last year, she tried out crocheting, by making a scarf for a TALONS event for the homeless. After that, she has fallen in love with the hobby and it has inspired her to follow her passions.

Soccer is another passion for Mitchell. She has been playing for over ten years and has been the captain of her team for over four. Throughout her life, she has tried out many sports such as softball, field hockey, basketball, and volleyball.

During her first two years of secondary school, Mitchell was in the TALONS program. This is an accelerated honours program that develops leadership skills and outdoor leadership. She learned how to lead her own leadership events and give an 80-minute lesson for the class. These two years were significant to her.

Mitchell wants to study zoology in post-secondary. This is because of her love for animals since she was young and her love of research. She has two dogs named Mollie and Winnie that she loves caring for and begged her parents for when she was little and obsessed with researching dogs. For her being able to study and examine the behaviour of animals all over the world is a dream. She wants to be able to pursue graphic design on the side as well. She has taken a few courses on the subject in her first years of high school and now she wants to be able to do it as a side hustle.

Some of Mitchell’s favourite movies are Marvel movies and Disney animated movies. She also likes most greens and lots of shades of blue. She also likes to listen to a few different genres of music including indie, alternative, and Celtic music.
