Anna Avgerinos/Student reporter
Anna Avgerinos is a grade 11 student. She currently studies at Gleneagle secondary. She has an eye for science and enjoys classes like biology and chemistry. However, she has a passion for English. Reading and writing has always been activities that she enjoys partaking in; for example, she is currently working on writing her own book.
Avgerinos knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals. She has been horseback riding for about six years at A&T Equestrian and has always enjoyed spending time with horses and other animals such as dogs and cats. However, she wants to pursue her love for writing, and is considering being an author alongside her work with animals. She plans to either study for a degree in veterinary medicine or in zoology. Avgerinos has also had and cared for her dog, Boomer, for the six years she has had him. She has rescued seven orphaned ducklings in the past and helped in the caretaking of two foals at the barn she worked at for five years.
Avgerinos has always been very focused when it came to her studies. She has a drive for hard work and is dedicated to making her parents proud of her and making herself proud as well. Hobbies like reading books and writing short stories has only made her more excited for her English classes because she enjoys having time to write down her ideas and express her opinions.

Despite enjoying the quiet time she has in her own home, Avgerinos loves to travel. Her family and her go on trips yearly, but considering the pandemic, they have not been on a plane in nearly three years. One of her favorite places to visit is Disneyland because she has visited a lot of times when she was little, and the trip is always accompanied by happy memories. Her favorite place in Disneyland to visit is Adventureland.
Currently, Avgerinos is unemployed because she has not yet turned sixteen. However, once she is the legal age of employment, she intends on working at the Chapters bookstore near her house because she has always enjoyed going there and being around novels and people like her.
Some of her favorite things includes sushi, Disney movies, and the color light blue. Avgerinos used to be a really picky eater and would only eat foods like chicken strips and French fries. Now she has expanded her horizon of foods. She also enjoys watching TV shows in her spare time; she tends to be in front of the TV whenever she has the chance. She also loves the outdoors and takes every moment she can to go on a walk with her dog or family or go horseback riding in the evenings.
