Becoming Muhammad Ali was written by James Patterson and Kwame Alexander published in 2019. This book is a Biographical Fiction Historical Fiction.
For all the athletes out there, who are wanting to get somewhere in sports, this book helps describe the upbringing of one of the greatest professional athletes in time.
This book describes his Ali’s struggles growing up as a kid having to deal with racism as well as growing up in a small home in Kentucky having to share it with many people such as his mom, dad, brother, and sister. He knew could provide a better life for his family which is why he made lots of dedication and sacrifices towards for the sport.
Ali discovered boxing in a local gym in his small community of Louisville’s West End in Kentucky. This book also describes his amazing relationship with his family and friends. A man Joe E. Martin introduced boxing to Cassius clay, who would later change his name to (Muhammad Ali,) at the age of 12.
Slowly Cassius fell in love with the sport and with Mr. Martins help, he became the golden gloves boxing champ at, but he also taught him many valuable lessons. One being with hard work anything is possible. Once he started fighting opponents, he started to gain loads of fame due to his unique style which was bouncy and arrogant. Even though he was very cocky people still loved him due to his speed and athleticism in the ring.
I really enjoyed this book due to its motivation and explanation on how to become successful. Absolutely would recommend this book to anyone who is losing motivation or that drive to be what they wanted because this novel shows how anything can happen no matter what your situation is.
Although it was sometimes hard to understand which character was talking since the book wouldn’t clarify so it would take time to understand which one of his family or friends was talking.
