Flight #116 is Down! is a novel written by Caroline B. Cooney, who has written nearly 100 books, including an international bestseller “The Face on Milk Carton”. And has received multiple honors including a 2008 American Library Association quick pick.

The novel is about a jet plane full of passengers that crashed near a town called Nearing River, and a girl called Heidi tried to rescue the passengers.

The story was written in chronological order, so the story can be briefly divided into four Parts. First, the introduction Part; Second, how the plane crash happened, Third, the Plane crash rescue; Fourth the Aftermath.

the Main Characters of this novel were Patrick, a junior on the Ambulance, and a certified EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), who arrives at the crash site right after Heidi and then starts rescuing the passengers who survive the plane crash, and Heidi, a student in boarding school. She saw a jet plane full of passengers crash into her backyard, so she called the emergency service, then start searching for the survivor of the plane crash. What they do is to prevent them from dying, so that the rescue crew can save most of the survivors.

So, this book is good for the student who wants to quickly read through the whole book, and the author uses a lot of characters to create a negative atmosphere during the plane crashes into the ground. Like the passenger screaming, the kid crying, the speech of the flight attendant telling the plane is crashing, etc. the words can be understood easily and the grammar in this book is not complicated. But this book also got shortcomings, such as most of the characters in this book being dead due to the plane crash, which makes people upset. this book will be a great choice for readers who are into young adult fiction.
