After the long stop of sport activities due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the girl’s rugby team coached by Simon Quinto, student services, and Peter Jones is finally ready to return on the field with the beginning of the 2021/2022 season. The team trains four times a week after school to improve their skills every time.
They have already faced several exhibition matches playing against Abbotsford secondary on March 9, and Mouat Secondary on March 30. They were also supposed to play against Chilliwack secondary on April 6 but the match has been cancelled because the opposing team didn’t find a bus to take the athletes to the destination to play the game. The team lost the two games played with a few points to spare but proved to be improving game by game.
The Talons also played in two rugby sevens tournaments against Walnut Secondary School and R.E. Mountain secondary in which they proved to be a solid team winning both competitions.
Now the season is about start and on April 13 they are ready to face GW Graham Secondary School for the first game that really matters for the league.
The season seems to promise well and like every year the team is ready to spit blood on the field to get to the provincial finals.
