Play Station 5 (PS5), developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment that was released in November 2020, pushed the quantity of people using game console instead of PC for gaming to a new peak.
In 2015, Sony first announced their development in PS5. After five years of development, the PS5 equipped with better CPU and GPU is able to offer smooth 4K/120fps or unprecedent 8K/60fps performance, taking a leap forward for the entire console game realm, according to “PS5 review: The future of console game is here” by Michael Andronico.
The Internal NVMe SSD of PS5 can manage 5.5 GB per second, which is double the Xbox Series X’s 2.4 GB per second, enables games to load at lightning-quick speeds, referring to “PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Which should you buy?” by Louise Blain and Sam Loveridge.
With 825 GB of SSD built-in storage, a PS5 can store 10-15 games in its library, saving a large amount of time for disk switching. Changing the SSD to a higher storage is also available to fit users’ demand, according to “What you need to know about adding more PS5 storage with an SSD” by Mike Epstein.
“Play has no limit,” is the original slogan of Play Station series by Sony, which is realized by this next-gen game console PS5.
Referring to the article “PS4 vs PS5” by Jacob Roach and Joseph Yaden, the graphic and processing part of PS5 is eight times more powerful than PS4 or two and a half more times greater than PS4 pro.
A revolutionary version of controller, DualSense was also released meanwhile, which contains new features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that would offer players more immersive experience.
With better specification, the size of PS5 is larger than all the game consoles in current market as well. Thus, Sony introduced a detachable stand that allows the massive consoles to be positioned either vertically or horizontally, adding more flexibility for users’ orientation. Now after over one year of its releasing, PS5 is still as popular as ever, maintaining the price around $1149, which is almost twice of its initial price of $629 and is often out of stock in Canada.
