One of the First people’s principles of learning that I feel like connects with me the most is learning requires patience and time. It connects with me because in my life I encounter a lot of incidents when I am trying to learn something new or try to improve something and I become frustrated when it is not working out.

A sport I spend most of my time doing is swimming, when I am trying to learn a new form or technique while swimming, I always think it’s something I can do quickly and learn it instantly, but my coach always reminds me that It’s something that takes a lot of time to perfect and you need to have determination to keep training and practicing until you get it down.

There was a point in my swimming season where I was at a brick wall, and I could not make any progress even though I was trying my hardest in practice. I was frustrated and upset, I had a swimming meet and on the first day it was the same thing, no progress but finally on the last day I relaxed and got ready for my 200IM and really put myself in the race. When I finished the race, I looked up to see my time and I dropped quite a lot of time. I felt so relieved, and all the practicing and training made it all better, I was ecstatic.

It took patience and time for these results to come through. From that point on, I became more patient with my swimming, and I do not rush to get my results and I understand it takes time to see these results. I did some research to see what animal resembles patience and it is the king fisher. King fishers dive into water quite often, which I feel resembles me quite well. It’s also coincidental that it’s the animal that resembles patience.
