I read three really interesting stories that really stuck with me the story of a boy stuck in war, Surviving World War 2 A Long Journey To Stability In Canada and cathie hemeons journey into social work on reserves.

I really relate to the first one ” The story of a boy stuck in war” by Taha Asadi because I did my story on my grandma who was living through the Iran and Iraq war and I also had two uncles in frontline in war, as well as my family’s last name is also Asadi, but for my story I changed their last name to Shir. The way he narrators his father’s struggles with being the only provider for his family now that his dad is off to fight in the Iran Iraq war and worrying that he would never see his dad again, felt close to home for me. From reading his story I wish I added more information on the Iran- Iraq war and more photos of the war.

“Surviving World War 2 a long journey to stability in Canada” by Kyra Daigle, I have never heard a personal story of someone who had live through World War 2, and as I kept reading it, I was getting more interested. Hey grandma, Uta Dessau was born in Berlin, germany in 1937, she was born in the failing economy in germany and the grizzly World War 2; she had to fight stay alive from all the bombing and soldiers. From escaping war and moving around the globe struggling till immigrating to British Columbia with her family and starting a new life for good now after living through all those events, she talks about her grandma still keeping habits like not wasting food and cooking for her family reminded me of my culture because how we show love is cooking for our loved ones. I love the way she talks about her grandma, calling her “intelligent” and “loving” and she said so much more about her. I agree with what she said about elders, how they have so much wisdom and we can all learn something from the elders around us. I love how she kept me hooked on the story and I am going to try that for my future blog post.

“cathie hemeons journey into social work on reserves” by chloe summer, this story was very amazely put together. Cathie lives in Fort St James in British Columbia where she works as a social worker, she works with indigenous people living near the 18 Nak’azadli reserves, hearing the stories of her grandma cathie and her job as a social worker was very impactful, it’s not an easy job and it’s not a job for everybody. Cathie has a very good positive mindset that i would like to have for myself which is ” no matter how hard you try, no one can change the past” i agree with her strategie a lot. I hope that i love my future job as much as cathie loves hers. This story taught me the hardships of being a social worker and dealing with generational trauma.
