Stormbreaker is the very first novel in the Alex Rider series written by Anthony Horowitz. Its action packed, fast-paced with moments full of tension, fear, suspense and high stakes. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in action, adventure, and thriller.

To avoid giving away too much but to provide some perspective, Alex Rider is a typical schoolboy who leads a typical life—that is, until his uncle Lan Rider passes away. Since learning that his uncle was a top MI6 agent who was fatally shot while returning from his most recent assignment, Alex’s life has never been the same. Alex is cleverly persuaded to work for MI6 and given the task of learning what is happening with the Stormbreakers, advanced virtual reality machines that have viruses inside of them. The Stormbreaker’s inventor, Darrius Sayle, is the prime suspect. After making a shocking realization that almost costs him his life, Alex is forced to go back to Britain in order to stop Sayle and save England. Will he be successful, or will this be his final mission?

The novel’s main themes center on coming to terms with mortality and death, as well as the need of using technology for good rather than for harm. This book receives a 3.5/5 from me. You will enjoy this novel if you like suspense, and unexpected turns.
