The wrestling team has been started.  

On December 1, the wrestling team had their first tournament at Maple Ridge secondary, as players got ready for their season. 

The Fraser North Wrestling tournament at Port Moody on December 2, was a round robin. At the tournament, six athletes participated in the competition. Jon Jo, grade 12, won first place, Emanuel Lai, grade 9, won third place, Connor Leach, grade 12, won fourth place, and Caitlin Segrave, grade 10, won fifth place. 

“I’m proud of my team, we have some strong guys from our school,” said Segrave.  

“I was happy and excited that they got some rewards,” said Brian Hunter, EAL teacher and coach.  

They competed in their third tournament on December 10 at Simon Fraser University.  

In preparation for these tournaments, the wrestling team had been practicing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at Heritage Woods secondary. They had been practicing very hard for their great achievement with their coach who is also Heritage Woods’ coach. 

“As a team, we are very excited for what’s coming because we are getting very skilled as a team,” according to Leach.
