Students played the spin-wheel game on December 8 and 9 in the foyer during lunch at an event organized by the green team. It was a success, raising over $65, all of which is to be donated to the Pacific Salmon Foundation.

The game was an event that was made to “raise awareness about the difficulties that salmon face. It’s a chance to spin the wheel for some amazing prizes and at the same time learn something new and donate to a good cause,” Bahar Hariri, grade 10 and green team member.

There was a 100% win rate for each spin. The wheel had five sections, with the prize of landing in the biggest section winning one piece of candy, the second biggest section winning a few pieces of chocolate, the third biggest section winning candy and chocolate, the fourth, a bubble tea voucher, and the last section winning a cafeteria voucher.

When asked about the cost to participate, Sadie Richardson, grade 10 and green team member, said, “spins are by donation, however we have a minimum of $1.50 for each spin,”.

According to Hariri, the event went well as planned for the most part. She added that, “It went smoother the second day because we knew what to expect from the first”. Also, she said that with more focus on marketing and advertising, the event could have received more participation.

“We’re really thankful for all the people who showed up, donated, and spun the wheel,”, Hariri.

Salmon spin wheel game was the first school event organized by the green team this year, with hopefully, lots more to come.
