The Responsibility and Community Care Club, RACC, hosted their annual coffee house on December 2, and raised $496.90, with all proceeds going to the Covenant House.

75 people attended the event which was held in the MPR. Grace Zhang, one of the heads of the RACC and a student in grade 12, said “the event was amazing, and it met and exceeded my expectations. The MPR was the most thoroughly decorated I have ever seen; I’m so proud of all the hard work our club members put into organizing it.”

Several volunteers dedicated their time to help make Coffee House possible. From Trevor Ho, grade 12, Hana Lowey, grade 10, Claire Joy grade 10, and Loliyo Pione grade 10, operating the tech booth, to the master of ceremonies Mel Baird, grade 12, and Jazmine Cabaluna, grade 12, and to all the servers. “Everyone was so eager to help out, and I think everyone enjoyed the event” added Zhang.

According to Zhang, people really enjoyed the performances; there are a lot of talented students in the school, and the performances were amazing. “I really appreciate the effort that the RACC Club’s members put in to make this event possible; it’s both charming and enjoyable to sit and sing with everyone at this time of the year; I feel good performing for everyone, and it was a very special experience.” said Samantha Li, grade 12 and student performer.

The RACC club’s weekly meeting is in room 224 every Thursday at lunch. They aim to increase school spirit while making a difference in the community. The RACC Club plans events like Coffee House, Dance Off, pen pals, donation drives, mental health seminars, and more.

Club members submitted their applications for the club at the start of the year, but the RACC Club always welcomes new members. If you wish to be a part of the club and help plan future events, please send a message on Instagram to @gleneagleracc or email at 125-gzhang@sd43.bc.ca

The RACC Club and its members are still discussing what event to plan after winter break. “As we are a very member-oriented club, we want to choose something we are all passionate about; we have a lot of ideas right now and are super excited to continue to bring unity to and make a difference in our community, so stay tuned!” said Zhang.

Be sure to join RACC if you are interested in planning events for the future.
