The RACC (Responsibility and Community Care) club is hosting their annual coffeehouse next Friday, December 2. Students and their families are invited to come to enjoy singing, dancing, instrumental performances, and comedy acts with desserts, snacks, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, all of which are included with admission. Tickets are $5 per student and $7 per adult, and the event will start at 7 p.m.

The Coffee House is an event intended to showcase student talent while also making a difference in our community. Auditions were open to the school from October 30 to November 11, and student performers submitted their video auditions through an online form, with selections made by the RACC audition committee.

All proceeds from this event are going to Covenant House, an organization focused on helping homeless youth by providing relentless support, absolute respect, and unconditional love, which is something a lot of people deeply resonate with.

With COVID-19 restrictions slowly lifting and the students feeling more comfortable attending events like Coffee House again, “I am very excited to be able to showcase the talent at our school! We have some incredibly gifted peers, and I am both honored to prepare an opportunity for them to perform and very excited to see what the night will bring,” said Grace Zhang, grade 12 and one of the heads in RACC.

“It’s nice to have it back since COVID, but I feel like this year it’s going to be bigger and better [compared to last year] because we have more time and more resources to work with.” added Hailey Stewart, grade 12 and one of the heads in RACC.

The RACC club plans their event in room 224 every Tuesday at lunch. There are currently over 30 students in the club, all of which are very excited about the event. “I really enjoy participating and organizing the event, and it’s a new experience for me. It offers so many opportunities where I can develop my leadership skills, step out of my comfort zone, make connections, and work with new people,” said Lucy Cao, grade 10, a member of RACC.

Be sure to have fun at the Coffee House and join RACC if you want to help out or participate in future events.
