Tomorrow , on November 4, Gleneagle, is hosting the BC post-secondary fair where 17 post-secondary institutions will talk to students to connect students with their best education opportunities. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and all grades from 10 to 12 students are invited to attend the presentations.
Ms. Chau, the Career Centre teacher, oversees the planning of this event.
When interviewed she said:” Post-Secondary BC is like a big umbrella that supports high school counsellors, because counsellors are in charge of advising students on where they apply for programs, the course requirements and provide information for parents”

She also wanted to highlight the fact that during the presentation students are expected to ask questions to the recruiters.

“Every student from grade 10 received an email on Friday October 27, in which a brief list of questions that could be asked during the presentation is provided. Until 3:20 p.m. each grade 12 class will have 20 minutes to actively participate in the event; from 3:20 to 4 p.m. grade 10 and 11 students will have their time too”

Post-Secondary BC is a consortium of primarily public post-secondary institutions in British Columbia. Their purpose is to provide the information students need, to help them make the best post-secondary education decisions.

 “Since I have close to no idea on what I’ll be doing after high school, I think that this could be a great opportunity for me to get my ideas straight” said the grade 12 student Tommaso Puglisi.

This event offers a lot of opportunity to all the Grade 12 students, who are interested in, because it makes them reflect on what their true interests are to build their own future.
Post-Secondary BC will base their presentation on the following bullet points, which are also things that students should know about their upcoming collegial life:

1. You are considered an adult;

2. You are responsible for all decisions—no one else is to blame;

 3. You should be going to post-secondary because “you want to” and not because someone else wants you to;

4. There is plenty of help available—but, you have to ask;

 5. You can ‘withdraw’ from academic courses, but there is a deadline;

6. You need to get involved in something—do not be invisible, in your first year of university, do not hide at the back of the class or in your dorm room;

7. Never be afraid to ask questions—just ask the right people, most faculty, professors, instructors are willing to help.

In Post-Secondary BC there is a membership of about 30 institutions including all public institutions in British Columbia. It means that they can guarantee that the information and resources they provide are accurate, comprehensive, and always put students first.

During a quick interview, grade 12 student Alvaro Albaladejo said:I am very glad to attend this presentation because I would really like to know what are the opportunities are offered by Post-Secondary BC, even to consider my future here in Canada.”
