The Baking Club has been hard at work these past few weeks preparing for the Lunar New Year Fundraiser. The goal of this coming fundraiser is to help support the upcoming Lunar New Year Festival right here at Gleneagle.
The student leader of the club is Jane Li, who helps plan and prepare for events like these. Ms. Priestly has been helping out the baking group as the teacher representative, co-leader and planner.
The baking club bakes their goods in room 126, planning to bake twice this week to get ready for the big day. There are currently over 20 students in the Baking Club, all of which are very spirited and excited for the club. Some items that they will be selling at the fundraiser are chocolate cupcakes, pumpkin muffins, sugar cookies, egg tarts, Chinese egg cakes, and Chinese sesame butter cookies.
“I am extremely passionate about baking and it is very fun and exciting, I hope to do even more complex baking in the future for the club,” Jane said.
The age group of the baking club has a huge range of people, from grade 9 – grade 12 students, and there is a lot of diversity in the group. Everyone and anyone is welcome to join and help grow the club. The baking club started with simple skills and baking, but there are many plans to decorate cakes in the future and do more advanced techniques in baking.
Be sure to join in on the fun at the Lunar New Year Festival Fundraiser on October 31 and November 1 and join the baking club if you find baking to be a passion that you have!
