Auditions are today for musical theatre students looking to secure a spot in the musical theatre cabaret later this month, on November 25. The musical theatre program is going to perform a set of songs chosen by musical theatre students on stage for an audience in a cabaret setting.
For today’s auditions, students will choose songs, they want to perform for the show. Justin Maller, drama and musical theatre teacher will watch and choose which ones will be performed.
“All the songs that you’ve wanted to perform but haven’t had the opportunity to,” said Chloe Summer, grade 10.
Summer is also playing a role in The Prom performance coming this May and has also been in Musical Theatre last year alongside their role as Rapunzel in Into The Woods.
“I am so excited to show my passion for music to other people.” said Vanessa De La Torre, grade 10.
De La Torre has joined musical theatre this year and is also an international student from Mexico and it is her first year in Gleneagle, so she has many memories and is surrounded by new people going forward. she adds that she is “happy to see what other things the musical theatre department will have to offer.”
“We’ve been making space for the new set” said Gabriella Castillo-Mejia, grade 10. Castillo-Mejia is in the theatre production department and says that she is also
“learning the basics of the lighting board”. It is Castillo-Mejia’s second year of being in theatre production at this school.
