Pietro De Sanctis / Staff reporter

My name is Pietro De Sanctis, I was born in Rome, Italy, on December 20, 2005. I’m currently a Gleneagle secondary school 12 grade international student, but I’ll be one just for 5 months because on February second I’ll go back to Italy, where my mom, my dad, my little brother and my dog are waiting for me. I came to Canada on August 27, to study and to experience a new way of learning, living and to improve my English skills. My dream job is to become an astronomer, because I love science and everything related to space. On block one I study chemistry, on the second I have New media Journalism, on the third pre-calculus 12 and finally on block four I have Mandarin class. My favourite sport is soccer and the team I support is A.S. Roma which is one of the two teams that were created in Rome and play in Serie A, which is the most important league in Italy. At Gleneagle I joined the school soccer team and almost every Tuesday and Thursday my team and I have a league game. Other than soccer I love going to the gym, because I find it ver relaxing and rewarding, but I also go there to keep myself in good shape.

My parents have always been very present and supportive towards me and my brother, when I was a kid I remember my mom didn’t work so she always drove me to school and during the weekends my dad often brought me to the theatre, since he was a theatre actor. I always try to be the best big brother possible for Andrea, my little 10 years old brother. My family and I have always been animal lovers, when I was a child we had a West Highland White Terrier, her name was Trilly and unfortunately she died when I was six. Two years after Trilly died my mom and I went to a kennel to search for a dog to rescue and we found Magò, our current dog. When we took her with us she was just six months old and now she’s almost nine years old.
Since I was a child I’ve always been a movie fan, for me it’s impossible to think of just one favourite of my favourite movies, my top three movies are: “fight club”, “Finding Nemo” and “seven”. I have a special relationship with music, my grandfather was a pianist, but unfortunately he passed away before I could meet him. My dad because of that loves to hear music, and because of him I do too. My favourite genre is Rap, but I change my mind very often since I don’t really have a favourite genre.
