My name is Shirley Tong. I am a Grade 10 student in Gleneagle secondary school. I come from Nanjing of Jiangsu Province in China. I just have been to Canada for one year. I enjoy the environment here. It’s totally different, I love the education style in North American countries.
I participate in some clubs in school. I join the Business club and the RACC club. I am really interested in Business that I want to get a high salary and stable job about business. I am also study accounting now which is also related to it. I want to get deeper in this subject. RACC club is to help school to organize some school event. I think I can get leadership skill in this club. Also, I signed up for an extracurricular class on strengthening English reading and writing skills. I think the Grade 10th is about to have provincial exams, so I need to study more.
I want to go to UBC after I finish my high school. I want to go to the business major. I want to be a financial advisor in the future. I have already take accounting 11 in the school for this semester. I am interested to solve some financial’s problems I enjoy the process of it. Also, I am absorbed in media things. I love using social media to show my part of life, so I am attentive in learning some advertise skills.
My favorite subjects are math. I think math is pretty easy for me and I am good at it. I love the process that solving math problems. I always involve some more difficult questions on the same topic that teacher taught me. My favourite teacher in Glen is Ms. Macdonald. She is a youth worker, so she just stayed in Glen for one year. I miss her so much. She is so nice to everyone. In the first semester next year, she was my art teacher. And in second semester, she was my food study teacher. I remembered once that I was sick, and I ask for leave. I actually had a language issue on English. She never tires of teaching me, no matter how many times I ask. Once I was sick and didn’t come to school, she left me the worksheet of that day and sent me the PowerPoint. I think she is very attentive.
I love my family and friends. I am glad that have a family and have such a bunch of friends with me. They helped me a lot and treated me well. In the face of tough times, my family and friends can offer me love, emotional support, and encouragement to persevere. I love them.
In my spare time, I love listening to music, it makes me relax when I was tired.

I love drawing, I enjoy using different colours to express my mood. Also, I would join some volunteers on the weekends and holidays. I also like to write some Chinese Calligraphy that I already learned for 8 years. I have passed the tenth grade of calligraphy.
