Joanne Chang / Staff reporter
Joanne Chang is a grade 11 student at Gleneagle secondary school. At Gleneagle, she is involved in athletic leadership and the volleyball team. She was born in Seoul, Korea, but later moved to Vancouver, Canada one month after her first birthday. After settling at her new home, her parents got introduced to church. From then she has been a Christian ever since.

If Chang had any place she would spend her last 24 hours, she would visit Alphaland, Golds Gym in Venice, Tulum Beach, Gymshark Lifting Club, and Muscle beach for 4 hours each. All the places are iconic to the fitness community, especially for the people who lift every day. It is Chang’s dream to visit these places because it would be an amazing experience to train in various environments.

The most memorable event Chang experienced was Camp Ignite. It took place during August 2022 around the lower mainland. At camp, she found many people that inspired her and had the same goals. She felt grateful meeting that community at such an important stage of life. Furthermore, getting a chance to experience all the skills she would need to use in a daily basis confirmed what she wanted to do in life. Firefighting.
Chang has numerous movies and tv shows that she enjoys to re-watch. She watches movies and shows not only to pass time, but to get her motivated to work. Even through the films are all in different genres, she likes all films equally. Some of the movies she likes are

Holidays are a big part of Chang’s mood because with every season, comes a different holiday. Her all-time favourite holiday is Christmas because she sees that winter has two sides, the joyful side, and the depressing side. Within the gloomy winter weather and the crispy environment, she sees that Christmas brings the warmth and joy. Chang’s least favourite season is spring because of the natures pollen. Whenever spring comes around the corner, her nose turns into a waterfall.
