Jaiyana Samji/staff reporter
Jaiyana Samji is a grade 10 student at Gleneagle Secondary School. She is 14 years old, and she lives with her mom, her dad, her 18-year-old sister named Aleena, and her dog named Rio who she got the first day of the Rio Olympics in 2016. Jaiyana loves doing stuff with her family, hanging out with her friends, shopping, and watching TV.
Jaiyana loves all things fashion. she loves designing and sewing her own clothes as well as expressing herself through her outfits. Jaiyana wants to pursue a career in the fashion industry, and ideally wants to eventually own her own business. Jaiyana had started a small business called ‘Sunshine Essentials’ a couple years ago where she made and sold different things like customized Starbucks cups, signs, stickers, and many other things.
Jaiyana had played soccer with Coquitlam Metro Ford soccer club (CMFSC) since she was four years old, and she had played on a select soccer team since she was eight. Jaiyana stopped playing on a club soccer team 2 years ago but continued to play on her school team last year. While she no longer plays the sport, Jaiyana still loves watching soccer games on tv and going to Vancouver Whitecaps games with her family.
Jaiyana enjoys watching tv and movies in her free time. Her favorite shows are Gilmore Girls, Friends, Emily in Paris, and Stranger Things. Her favorite movies are the Marvel movies, Harry Potter, Enola Holmes, and the original Barbie movies. Jaiyana loves watching movies and tv shows with her family as well as doing puzzles with them on occasion. Jaiyana also enjoys playing Mario cart with her sister. Jaiyana loves to play with her dog and take him for walks.

Jaiyana is a passionate, hard-working student. Although she lacks some mathematical skills, she makes up for it with her creativity and artistic abilities.
