Ethan Dill, grade 11, attends Gleneagle secondary school in his hometown Coquitlam, BC. Ethan enjoys his time outdoors as seen from the many sports and activities he partakes in. Just last year in grade 10, Ethan was a member of the Coast program at Gleneagle. The Coast program is one semester long and teaches you a number of different things from solo outdoor survival skills to teamwork skills. You go on many different trips up to 11 nights long and do outdoor activities from white water canoeing to biking, a physical challenge for sure.

Ethan is an Athlete, there’s no doubt about it. He enjoys many sports but some of his favourites include soccer, mountain biking, and snowboarding. Ethan grew up idolizing Messi and has been playing soccer his entire life.

You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and work hard for it

-Lionel Messi

He joined club, Coquitlam Metro Ford at the age of 4 and has played there ever since, winning multiple league titles and tournaments. Ethan also enjoys mountain biking (Mtb), something he has only done for 3 years but recently has been getting more into. In addition to riding, he enjoys building Mtb trails. Ethan has been building trails since April and is something he has spent a lot of time on especially this summer. Snowboarding is another individual sport, and another sport Ethan enjoys. Ethan started snowboarding at a young age. Ethan loves the mountains, but he loves the sea as well.

Ethan’s love for the sea has likely come from all the time spent at his family cottage on the Sunshine Coast. Ethan loves his cottage and enjoys swimming, kayaking, playing games in the sand, and even relaxing beachside. Although, the Sunshine Coast is a short trip in comparison to some of the other places Ethan has traveled. Just this year in June, Ethan went on a 2-week trip to Europe with his family. He visited Spain, Italy, and France. Some of his favourite experiences include:

  • visiting the Camp Nou football stadium in Barcelona;
  • exploring the Colosseum in Rome; and
  • admiring the Eiffel Tower all lit up from a nighttime boat cruise on the Seine River.

Ethan enjoys travel and it’s something he wants to do after high school. He is planning on taking a year off school after he graduates and traveling around Europe.

Ethan enjoys these many great experiences with his loving family – his mom, dad, sister, and dog Kellogg – they all share a close family bond. Ethan was born in Canada, but his origins are traced back to Northern Europe. He is believed to be German, British, and Dutch. Ethan has been described as a smart, kind, funny and athletic young man by his friends and family.
