Miranda is fifteen years old, and she is a grade ten at Gleneagle. She attends Gleneagle because of her love for art and all the great art programs the school offers. She has always been passionate about art, whether it is drawing or painting, and she wishes to attend Emily Carr University, and become a professional artist someday. She focuses on her well-being as well as the Earth’s and hopes to communicate, at a grand scale, how much our home is suffering through her art.

She has always known about her passion for art, and that her future would be guided by it. She finds art intriguing, fun, and unpredictable. Sometimes it is scary for her to imagine that nothing else can make her as happy, as free, or as euphoric, which is why she chooses to follow the artistic path. Miranda enjoys doing art as well as many other artists, but she wants to use her voice as an artist to communicate bigger ideas such as climate change and what it means to do something about it.

Miranda has been very concerned about the Climate Crisis and overwhelmed by our actions to reduce the impact it will have on our lives and on many others that are yet to come. She has been doing her part by doing simple things like turning off the lights when not using them or using the hand dryer instead of paper towels after washing her hands, but she felt it wasn’t enough. She decided to make an art account addressing climate change with the hope to spread the message of help to those who do not pay much attention to the topic. One of her goals, when she becomes a professional artist, is to use her talent to impact people’s lives and make a bigger change.

Most recent picture of Miranda’s skates

When Miranda is not daydreaming about what to paint or the world’s injustices, she figure-skates. She has been doing figure skating for almost three years and has found herself more capable of doing things than she thought. She did artistic roller skating for seven years back in Mexico—her home country. Although they are similar, she finds figure skating far more enjoyable and rational. This sport keeps her busy most of the time, yet she is grateful she can experience what it feels like to jump and spin.

Apart from her main hobbies, Miranda also likes to run and read. She likes to push herself to do more, and running is a great way of doing so. Time prevented Miranda to go on runs, but joining cross-county proved her wrong, as she can manage well between school and sports. Miranda’s sister loves reading as much as she loves drawing; she was the one that introduced her to the joy of discovering new worlds through worlds.
