Many modern people are addicted to bad postures because of the long sitting time.

It may be comfortable for a moment while sitting, but as reported by Better Health Channel, bad posture will ruin the body little by little and eventually break the body’s physical balance.

People need to stop the bad postures and start doing the right postures for their health.

The most representative example of bad posture is leg crossing. It is one of the most widespread bad postures in both East and West, and once it becomes a habit, it becomes very difficult to correct as the person continues it unconsciously.

People crossing legs

According to Therapydia, Leg crossing causes the pelvis to be twisted and the legs to be different in length, causing the body to lose balance. It is highly likely to be developed into musculoskeletal diseases such as leg pain, back pain, and shoulder pain.

Although the facts about these bad postures are widely known, most people seem to struggle because the right postures that experts say are uncomfortable. So many people eventually return to the wrong postures which are familiar and comfortable but can harm their health.

Why do most people find the bad postures comfortable and the right postures uncomfortable?

Structures that move and support our bodies include ligaments, joints, and muscles.

Muscles can grow through exercise, but joints and ligaments that connect the muscles are consumable, not trainable.

The wrong postures are when the joints and ligaments are burdened, or only certain muscles are excessively used.

In other words, the wrong postures are comfortable because the joints and ligaments hold out the body’s load instead of using the muscles.

In return, those wear out the joints and ligaments faster.

And when only certain muscles are used, one side weakens and the other side strengthens, causing body imbalance.

Right sitting posture

To train muscles by doing the right postures and to reduce the consumption of joints and ligaments, stretch back about 10 degrees, and straighten the neck and shoulders. Do not cross or twist legs. Keep them straight and upright.

It may be difficult at first, but it is necessary to develop muscles and to reduce the consumption of joints and ligaments by maintaining the right postures for the future. It is an investment to avoid greater discomfort and pain which will take a lot of money, health, and time later.
