The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and Janet Mills from the Toltec Wisdom series is a Spirituality, Self-help, and Personal growth book.
This book was originally published in 1997, since then it has been translated into 46 languages worldwide, such as Chinese, Spanish and Arabic; it was on the New York Times bestseller list for over a decade and has sold over 9 million copies.
With all the popularity it gained, the publisher decided to publish an illustrated edition of the book for its 15th anniversary.
The Four Agreements is based on the ancient Toltec wisdom which are the Mexican indigenous people who preceded the Aztecs, and it was inspired by the set of spiritual beliefs they held.
Just like its name, The Four Agreements talks about the four most important agreements that every person needs to act on in order to truly live and enjoy life and be able to experience true happiness.
The Four Agreements has lots of beneficial lessons and advice, for example: “Whatever life takes away from you, let it go. When you surrender and let go of the past, you allow yourself to be fully alive at the moment; letting go of the past means you can enjoy the dream that is happening right now” tells us the importance of living in the moment, everything happens for a reason and there is nothing you can do about it, that is why you shouldn’t be worrying about the past and the things that have happened because you’ll miss right now.
This book is a great help for people to release themselves from all the self-limiting beliefs and it guides them to personal freedom and growth.
one of the four agreements in the book is “Don’t make assumptions”, which explains why people should avoid making assumptions about people, themselves, and life and it clarifies the ways to overcome it, in the easiest way.
After reading this book your perspective in life will change because the key to your problems and the answer to your questions is written in it.
