The first rocket that is being made for space tourism named the starship has had another failure during its fourth test trying to land.
The way the starship is supposed to work for this test is by going up to a good height and then turning itself over onto its side like a belly flop then turning on its engine at the last second to land while pointing straight up.
The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Elon Musk said that the rocket was able to reach its height goal, but it failed to land again which resulted in an explosion and then debris started falling from the sky.
The CBC news says that if this tourism is successful then it could put SpaceX at the front of the line for another passenger travel rocket to the moon but if an accident were to happen it could result in the loss of at least twelve lives which would mean spaceflight companies would have to reevaluate space tourism.
Space tourism is a spaceflight trip to space and back, recently a Japanese billionaire named Yusaku Maezawa has purchased a space tourism flight around the moon and back that is planned to happen in 2023.
Maezawa wants to have eight other passengers to join him on the spaceflight so he created a contest that is open to the public with the prize being a ticket for one of the passenger seats on the starship, according to the CBC news.
The starship is a fully reusable and super heavy lift rocket that is being built by a space Transportation company called SpaceX. Super heavy lifts are launch vehicles that can lift about 8,110,000 lb. The star ship will be used to take the first passengers to the moon and then it might take humans to mars in the future.
SpaceX is a space transportation company that was founded by Musk. Musk’s goal with SpaceX is to reduce the cost of space transportation that way they can enable the colonization of the planet mars.
Space.com says that multiple spaceflight company could have the chance of creating space tourism and maybe take on the spaceflight company called NASA’s old role of pushing the frontier of space.
If people go on a space tour than they would have to be trained under NASA’s astronaut training because the space tour would have no professionals on the rocket according to the CBC news.
